1 The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto, Japan
The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto sits serenely on the banks of the Kamogawa river, in a prime location with expansive views of the famous Higashiyama mountains. All of the guestrooms and suites offer full views of the Kamogawa River and Higashiyama Mountains.
It is the most expensive hotel in Japan which I could find. Deluxe Double Room - 740$ for two with breakfast.
This Ritz Carlton property is spectacular. You walk in through unassuming sliding doors that allow the amazing property to open up before you. It is unlike any other Ritz Carlton property with a design and atmosphere which is contemporary, rich but light and sensitive to its surroundings on the river in central Kyoto. The rooms are great, the service is fantastic.

is a unique circuit of lodges set throughout the Kingdom of Bhutan’s central and western valleys. Descending from 7,000-metre peaks in the north to the low-lying plains of the south, Bhutan’s rivers have forged deep valleys separated by high mountain passes. Historically isolated, each valley’s scenic beauty and topography affords visitors an opportunity for unique journeys of discovery between them. Beautiful architecture with austere white-washed exterior walls and really cosy interiors. The tall, narrow and deeply set windows generate beautiful and constantly shifting interior light. Beautifully decorated rooms with really comfortable beds and your own private fireplace. The service is top-notch. All staff members are very friendly and try to fulfil your every wish.
Amankora’s spiritual pilgrimage offers guests both a humbling and enriching experience. For a safe pilgrimage through the Kingdom, receive a blessing and light Yak-butter lamps in the secluded Wangditse Lhakhang (temple). Take time to reflect in the tranquility of the ancient altar room.
Visit Cheri Goemba, the first monastery established in Bhutan, and absorb the vibrant spiritual energy of the Goemba’s altar room through reflection or meditation.
At the 7th century temple of Kyichu Lhakhang, have a long life blessing and Buddhist name bestowed.
